# Fake receipt and scheduled Pix scam: how it works and what to do · Bipe The buyer sends a receipt screenshot and asks for the item. The Pix was scheduled and cancelled, or the receipt was edited. A screenshot does not prove payment. **The fake receipt scam: the screenshot arrived, the money did not** Also called: fake payment receipt, scheduled Pix scam, fake buyer. ## How it works 1. The scammer answers your ad and takes the price without haggling. 2. They send a screenshot of a scheduled Pix, or an edited receipt, and ask you to ship today. 3. Then they cancel the schedule. You lose the item and get no money. ## How to spot it - The receipt says "scheduled". - The buyer is in a rush and sends a courier to collect. - The money does not show in your statement yet. ## What to do - Hand over the item only after you see the money in your bank app statement. - A receipt screenshot does not prove payment. - Fell for it?
